Giorgio de Chirico – Catalogue of Works vol. 1 (1912-1976)

Giorgio de Chirico
Catalogue of Works
Maretti Editore - vol. 1/2014

The first volume of Giorgio de Chirico’s Catalogue of Works has been published 36 years after the artist’s passing in 1978 at the age of 90.
The catalogue includes 450 artworks dating from 1912 to 1976 and offers an ample overview of the artist’s work and various iconographic, stylistic and technical research.
The selection of works, many of which are little-known or completely unknown, makes a substantial contribution to knowledge on de Chirico’s oeuvre.
The artworks have been identified by Fondazione in line with one of its principal objectives of “studying and cataloguing artwork by Giorgio de Chirico considered authentic”.

The works reproduced do not appear in Claudio Bruni Sakraischik’s Catalogo generale of Giorgio de Chirico’s art (Electa, Milan 1971-1987).
The 468-page publication contains an essay by Claudio Strinati, a foreword by Paolo Picozza, President of Fondazione Giorgio e Isa de Chirico, a brief biography on the artist and a summary of the Foundation’s activity.

A bibliography with references from the principal monographs, exhibition catalogues, periodicals and auction house catalogues for the works published is included in the form of a separate dossier.
